Overview

The CSM1 is only compatible with mixed-array data loggers and the DSP4 Heads Up Display. The CSM1 is a microprocessor-controlled read/write module that stores the data logger’s data to removable credit card-sized memory cards. The memory cards can then be easily transported to a computer for data download (via an MCR1).

Technical Description

The user can either leave the CSM1 with the data logger and exchange the memory cards at regular intervals or move the CSM1 from data logger to data logger to retrieve data from each. Because the CSM1 has a low quiescent power consumption and a wide operating temperature range, it can be used in remote, battery-powered applications.

Additional Compatibility Information

Memory Card

Proper CSM1 operation is guaranteed only with cards tested and supplied by Campbell Scientific. Campbell Scientific offered the JEIDA 4, PCMCIA card (CSMC1M) that provided 524,160 low-resolution data points.

Data Logger Considerations

The CSM1 is only compatible with mixed-array data loggers. Data loggers that store data in a table-based format are not compatible. Older data loggers may require a PROM upgrade.

The CSM1 connected to a mixed-array data logger via an SC12 cable (included).

CSM1-to-PC Connections

For data playback at the office, the CSM1 connected to the RS-232 port of a PC via the SC532A interface (see also MCR1 Memory Card Reader). Software support was provided by LoggerNet or PC208(W). The PC transferred data to the card at rates up to 1500 data values per second.

Enclosure Considerations

The CSM1 requires a desiccated, non-condensing environment; a Campbell Scientific enclosure is recommended. The 8070 mounting kit is offered to attach the CSM1 to the backplate of our enclosures (see Ordering Info).
