Using a datalogger (CR6) to monitor values in a text file on a PC?

This is probably an odd use of a datalogger, but I'm wondering if it is possible to have a datalogger monitor a text file on an adjacent computer (microsoft Surface Pro).  This equipment will be at a remote location and I will have communication with both of them over a cellular connection.  The text file will be updated about once a second, and I would like the datalogger to watch certain columns so that I can be alerted if the values exceed a set limit.  One complicating part is that the file name will change occasionally (the file of interest will be the text file with the latest time stamp that starts with a key word that won't change).  I'm sure there are other possibly better ways to do this from the SurfacePro itself (I have someone else working on that), but it would be an attractive option to me to have the CR6 be watching this file so that I can publish the data to a website (using RTMC-Pro) and then watch it from wherever.  The SurfacePro currently does not have Loggernet on it, but the CR6 would be accessible by a computer that does have Loggernet (not on the same local network).  Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks,

The most practical method I can think of is to have the PC send the file to the CR6 using FTP. The FTP server in the CR6 is disabled by default. So, you need to set up a username and password on the Network Services tab of settings.
