What might cause a “CardStatus Unable to access Card. errno: 42” message? What does this message mean?

The error may be caused by the use of a CompactFlash (CF) card that is not compatible with the datalogger or by a hardware failure on the CF card. Use only the CF cards listed in the “CF Card Information” application note.

Other possible causes include the following:

  • The module might not be plugged into the wiring panel correctly. For example, the module might be loose.
  • There may be broken or bent pins in the connector to the wiring panel. Visibly check the module and the datalogger, especially for dirt or bits of paper.
  • There may be a hardware fault, such as a bad solder joint in the module or in the card itself. Also, check for moisture.
  • Dirt in the card slot or even in the small holes of the socket of the card may prevent proper contact from being made when the card is plugged in.
